Call Stuart Smiles today to discuss your options for dentures.
A denture is a removable replacement for missing teeth. If you have an absence of health, natural teeth, complete or partial dentures can help restore function and give you a beautiful smile worth showing off.
Complete dentures, also known as conventional dentures, are used when there is a lack of healthy teeth. Complete dentures are applied as a thorough replacement. Once your remaining teeth are safely and comfortably removed, a conventional denture may be placed, which occurs eight-twelve weeks after teeth removal.
Alternatively, you may also be eligible for immediate dentures. These dentures are created in advance and are ready to be installed in place of removed teeth immediately, therefore removing the waiting period where the patient must live with this discomfort of no teeth. However, immediate dentures require adjustment over time, as the healing period can prompt gums and bones to shift.
The other option patients may be eligible for is partial dentures. Like complete dentures, partial dentures are also removable; however, they are connected to a gum-colored base made of plastic. This type of denture is usually recommended for individuals with healthy teeth remaining on their lower or upper jaw.
Partial dentures are beneficial for those with this set of conditions as they fill the space left by missing teeth – while preventing the rest of the teeth from shifting and creating further problems.
